During the COVID-19 pandemic, we researched the impact of COVID-19 on the Personal Assistant (PA) workforce. This page is dedicated to our work durante the pandemic, which was funded by The Churchill Fellowship and the Covid Action Fund.
Understanding the Impact on Personal Assistants
Our research focused on how COVID-19 affected PAs and Individual Employers (IEs) across Greater Manchester. We listened to people’s experiences, gathered evidence about the pressures they faced, and explored what needed to change in adult social care.
Sharing Our Findings with MMU Students
We were invited to present our COVID-19 research to students at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), as part of their integrated health and social care programme. We are grateful to the faculty and students for their warm welcome and thoughtful questions.
The discussions that followed the lecture highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary working when responding to a crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to future opportunities to share our research and contribute to learning and practice in health and social care.
Our COVID-19 Report for Greater Manchester
With support from the Covid Action Fund, YSM produced a report on the impact of COVID-19 on Personal Assistants and Individual Employers in Greater Manchester. The report offers key proposals for redesigning adult social care across the region and was shared with key stakeholders and decision-makers.
